Microneedling

Microneedling is a safe, minimally invasive treatment that can improve fine lines, acne scars, enlarged pores and result in overall skin rejuvenation. A topical numbing cream is applied to your skin. Once numbed, a device with multiple very thin needles is glided over your face to create tiny, controlled wounds. During the process growth factors are released and new collagen is formed.  Microneedling is safe for all skin types.

We are often asked -- what is the difference between home microneedling treatments and in-office treatments.  The simple answer: customizability and results.  Home treatments often rely on single depth rollers. Our in-office device allows us to adjust the speed and the depth of the needle penetration based on the area of the face treated, your specific skin concerns and the amount of downtime you can tolerate.  Because a topical numbing cream is used, the needle is able to go deeper into the skin with less discomfort -- which translates to better results.

Before your Treatment

Please come to the office with a clean face  and no makeup (this includes foundation and powders). We also recommend you pack a wide brimmed hat to wear and protect your skin after your treatment. Small traumas are being created in the skin. There is a chance of developing pinpoint bruising depending on your unique skin features and intensity of treatment.  To minimize bruising it helps to avoid aspirin, NSAIDs (e.g. ibuprofen, Aleve, Motrin), fish oil the week before your appointment.  If these medications were prescribed by your doctor, do not stop them. Please let your dermatologist know and they will advise you accordingly.  Alcohol can thin your blood, too. It helps to avoid drinking alcohol 24 hours before your appointment.

Recovery

The first 24 hours after your treatment you may look like you have a slight sunburn. Your skin may feel sore to the touch. You may start applying makeup the morning after your treatment. You may notice your skin start to flake a peel about 5 days after your treatment.  Small bruises usually resolve in about 1 week.

Results

A week after your treatment your skin will appear refreshed. This process stimulates collagen production. Thus, multiple sessions are recommended to achieve results.  As your body builds new collagen, it can take 3-6 months to see the full results.
